On June 23rd, 2023, a significant dialogue concerning the “Procedural Changes in the Modernisation of Parliaments” took place, navigating a wide array of themes relevant to the transformation of our democratic institutions.
In the introductory discussions, we probed the strategies that could facilitate the modernisation of legislative institutions. Central to this theme was the goal of promoting active citizen participation and making parliamentary procedures user-friendly. Here, the conversation focused on the intersection of innovation and accessibility, underscoring the need for a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.
The second segment of the dialogue concerned itself with refining and simplifying procedures and their language. The debate acknowledged the imperative of safeguarding the integrity of procedural traditions and making them understandable and accessible for citizens. This debate accentuated the fine balance between change and continuity, which lies at the heart of any modernisation effort.
